Sarah Silverman to Guest Star on 'The Good Wife'

Comedian Sarah Silverman will be schlepping over to CBS soon to shoot a guest appearance on 'The Good Wife.'

The news was announced during a question and answer session with the writers on Twitter late Tuesday night: "BREAKING NEWS for those of you who are still here with us: Sarah Silverman will guest star in Episode 222."

No further details about the 'Jesus is Magic' star's appearance -- including whether she is playing a character or will appear as herself -- have been forthcoming, and Silverman hasn't commented on it yet.

Will she follow in the footsteps of fellow 'Saturday Night Live' alum Ana Gasteyer and play a judge?

Although 'The Good Wife' has been quietly building up a reputation for great writing and a strong regular cast, it hasn't shied away from bringing in big-names for guest spots in the past. Stars such as Michael J Fox, Rita Wilson, America Ferrera and Gary Cole have all appeared in two or more episodes.

Silverman started out on 'Saturday Night Live' in the early 1990s before moving on to 'The Mr. Show With Bob and David,' eventuallly winding up with her Comedy Central show, 'The Sarah Silverman Program,' in 2007. Along the way she's had guest spots in shows ranging from 'Star Trek: Voyager' -- she played Tom Paris's love interest! -- to 'The Larry Sanders Show' and 'Monk.'
