She's one of the most well-known women around the globe, and Madonna was tapped to take over the cover of the May 2012 issue of Vanity Fair Italy magazine.
The 53-year-old superstar looked as fine as ever for the provocative spread lining the pages while opening up about topics including being afraid of not being in control and how having children have impacted her life.

On the woman who inspired her fragrance:
"[She was] a real mother. Sweet, feminine, and inviting music. And he always used the perfume Fracas by Robert Piguet. It's a smell in my memory: I associate the childhood memory of the morning when I woke up early and went to slip into my parents' bed."
On seemingly not being afraid of anything:
"It is not true: there are things that are scary to me."
On what it is that scares her:
"Not knowing, not being in control of what's happening around me. I can not predict what will happen. And also the fact that the world is full of ignorance and full of prejudices: that scares me more than anything."
On how children have changed her:
"Over the years themselves, it's the children that made me become more patient and tolerant. I take everything less seriously than before. They make me more resilient, mentally."
